Manchester City made a statement that they are no longer just the noisy neighbours but serious title contenders as the nosiest neighbour of them all; Mario Balotelli got a double to put his side five points clear of Manchester United.

Sergio Aguero a Edin Dzeko double and David Silva all got on the scoresheet , with Jonny Evans getting sent off for the Old Trafford side and Darren Fletcher gaining a late consolation, as they were comprehensively defeated by their local rivals and title challengers.

Both sides showed their intent from the off, starting with attacking line-ups, which included Wayne Rooney and Danny Welback leading the line for the home side, while their so-called noisy neighbours went for the controversial Balotelli and Sergio Aguero as the goal threat going into the derby.

The visitors started off the brightest, with Argentinian hitman Aguero putting his former Atletico Madrid teammate David De Gea under pressure within the first minute, getting a touch on the keeper’s clearance, which led to a chance that Aguero failed to capitalise on.

The game, played in a cauldron of noise inside Old Trafford then swung back and forth, with the champions gaining the advantage, especially in the midfield area, as they looked to get forward, with Ashley Young being the focal point as the winger raced down the left wing, taking on Micah Richards early on.

Just before the quarter of an hour mark Manchester City had a superb chance as David Silva raced into the home box and with three United defenders surrounding the Spaniard, he managed to evade them, with the ball seemingly sticking to his foot before Jonny Evans got back to cover the midfielder.

Despite having the lion’s share of the possession, the home side couldn’t find a way to get a shot at Joe Hart’s goal and were made to pay when James Milner got the ball on the left hand side of the area and cut it back to Balotelli, who slotted the ball home expertly to put the visitors into the lead.

The Italian then found himself on the wrong side of referee Mark Clattenburg’s wreath, for putting his blue Manchester City top over his head to reveal the ‘Why always me?’ message on his t-shirt underneath.

They could have gone two ahead, as Aguero got the ball on the right touchline and floated the ball across, but unfortunately for Roberto Mancini’s side it could be put into the net and was eventually cleared from danger by the Manchester United defence.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side looked to get back into the game, with their main dangerman being Young, who had an effort from just outside the box, that failed to trouble Hart in the City goal as the ball went wide of his left hand post and out for a goal kick.

Hart was finally made to make his first save of the match with over half an hour gone in the game, as he punch out a corner from the left, straight into the path of Anderson, but the
Brazilian midfielder could only put his strike back into the palms of the England goalkeeper.

Within the first minute of the second half things went from bad to worse for the home side as Aguero put a ball through towards goal, with Balotelli getting on the wrong side of Evans, with the Northern Irish international putting the forward’s shirt on the edge of the box, leaving referee Clattenburg with no choice but to send the centre half off.Balotelli then took the resulting free kick, but the Italian couldn’t make the champions pay for their error, as his strike cannoned off the wall, then Richards attempt from the rebound was cleared from danger.It could have got even worse for Ferguson’s side as Richards raced into the box and went down under a challenge from Anderson, but Clattenburg waved away the appeals of the visiting side, saying that the contact between the two was incidental.The home side’s only chance during the first few minutes of the half came as a result of a long ball played to Welback, but the young striker couldn’t make anything of the opportunity as no player in red was anywhere near the England striker and ultimately City got the ball clear.

The ball then raced to the other end, were Richards had another opportunity after the full back was put in on goal by Balotelli, but he couldn’t find a way beyond the home defence to put De Gea under any real pressure.

Being both a goal down and a man down, the home side re-jigged their side with Rooney moving into midfield and Fletcher moving into the right back position, but even though their being pushed back by their neighbours they attempted to get forward, but still couldn’t find a way past Hart in the visiting goal.

Then just before the hour mark the blue half of Manchester were given further joy to celebrate as Silva raced into the box before finding the onrushing Milner on the right wing, who then crossed to the unmarked Balotelli, was tapped in at the back post to double the visitors lead.

They could have had a third minutes later as Richards played the ball to Silva, who beat his man before whipping in a cross that Chris Smalling was forced to clear before Balotelli could tap home for his hat-trick.

That put Sir Alex into action as he decided to shake things up by bringing on both Phil Jones and Javier Hernandez for the ineffective pair of Anderson and Nani as the home side looked to find a way back into the Manchester derby.

But instead of getting back into the game they went further behind as Richards received the ball on the right wing, crossing to the back post for Aguero to knock home as race towards the sea of blue fans in corner to celebrate City’s third of the day.

City continued to put their local rivals, as Edin Dzeko, who had replaced Balotelli minutes earlier had a chance that went just wide of De Gea’s goal.

They kept going forward looking for a fourth goal, with Silva going close, then De Gea having to get down well in order to save from Dzeko as the Bosnian striker went one-on-one with the keeper, after being put through on goal.

With ten minutes left in the game the home side finaly found a goal to give their fans something to cheer about, as Fletcher played a one-two with Hernandez and the Scotland captain then proceeded to curl the ball round Hart and into the top of the Manchester City goal to reduce the deficit.

Mancini’s side were content to hang on for the reminder of the game, slowing down the play at any opportunity, which brought roars of anger from the home support, as they were desperate to see their side close the gap on their city rivals.

With two minutes left in the game the visitors finally got their fourth of the game as a corner from the left found Joleon Lescott at the back post and he put it into Dzeko, who hit the ball with his knee and into the net.

The humiliation was complete a minute later as Dzeko turned from goalscorer to provider as he put through Silva, who slotted the ball through De Gea legs to give the visitors their fifth goal of a famous derby victory.

Then, deep into injury time it became even worse as Silva found Dzeko, who slotted the ball past De Gea to complete a terrible day for Sir Alex side as they were humbled by their noisy neighbours.

After successfully wrapping up their first Japan Arena Tour on July 18th, the girls are back in South Korea to continue with their schedules. The 9 girls were spotted at Gimpo Airport earlier today and will head to Jeju Island to attend KBS’s “World’s Seven Natural Wonders”. The tour began May 31st in Osaka, and ended on July 18th in Fukuoka, with concerts in Saitama, Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Nagoya in between. In view of Girls’ Generation’s youngest member’s 21st birthday, Korean SONEs gave their sincere congratulations by posting birthday advertisements for Seohyun in the daily newspaper. As one of South Korea’s top idol groups, the 9-membered phenomenon has slowly started to make an impression worldwide, and not in pop culture alone. Of the 9 members, Seohyun is the youngest. However, despite her age, her exceptional writing skills and brilliance are widely recognized by the SM family and by overseas fans.

Back in June, Girls’ Generation went to Paris, France together with their SM Entertainment label mates for the much anticipated SMTOWN LIVE in PARIS. Throughout the duration of their stay, Seohyun kept a diary in which she recorded her journey and feelings while she was in Paris. The journal, titled “Dream-like Life in Paris”, was revealed on the 13th through Issue Daily under the title of “Seohyun’s Paris Diary”. Seohyun stated calmly that she would record her first Paris trip fully, complete with the heart fluttering feelings of a person in her early 20s.

Starting first at the famous landmarks of Paris, Seohyun spent the next day in local areas where the Hallyu wave was crashing through. Seohyun experienced and saw the true attractions of Paris during the rest of her trip, and also at the SMTOWN LIVE in PARIS during which she saw firsthand the extent of the Hallyu Wave in France. Photos which were taken by Seohyun herself have also been provided by her from her camera.

1. The Europe I dreamed of, the first in Paris, France.

Oh my goodness. Scenes which I’ve only ever dreamed of were unraveling before my two eyes. I saw the beauty of the Seine River which I’ve only seen in movies, watched the leisurely and free Parisians milling about, and smelled the sweet scent of chocolates and macaroons. We were given an off day today before the SMTOWN LIVE in PARIS performance, and while I was pondering in my happy dilemma of where I should go first, my interpreter unnie spoke to me.

“Where would you go if you ever came to Paris?” She asked.

I replied without hesitation, “The Eiffel Tower! And then I want to go to the Château de Versailles, and the Notre Dame de Paris, The Sacré-Cœur Basilica, the Arc de Triomphe, the Musée du Louvre, and the Paris Opera!”

Whew~! I was overflowing with places I wanted to go to.

After hearing the places which I wanted to see, unnie responded, “I’ll tell the driver where you want to go. Paris is even smaller than Seoul, so most probably we’ll be able to visit a lot of them.”

I was truly delighted and grateful, and I felt incredibly happy.

First, we started out by going to the Arc de Triomphe which was at the western end of the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. They said that it was constructed in remembrance of the soldiers who fought and died in the Napoleonic Wars, as well as the French Revolutionary. Be it from afar or up close, the Arc de Triomphe looked so beautiful when I saw it that I almost couldn’t believe it. Being able to see Arc de Triomphe in real life is unbelievable when I’ve only ever seen it in history books.

With an elated heart, the next place I visited was the Château de Versailles! It was a place which I’ve held of a fantasy of since childhood, and it was a place which I definitely wanted to visit one day. The Versailles, which contains memories of the famous Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette! The wide and endless sight of the Château juxtaposed with the blue skies was so blissful. Even though I was saddened to hear that the Château was too large for me to completely explore, just the fact that I’ve visited the Château de Versailles which I’ve always dreamed off makes me happy.

The next thing to see was the Eiffel Tower! I’ve anticipated it for so long! It was built for the Exposition Universelle, a World’s Fair back in the 1880s. However, many Parisians were said to have thought that the tower was an eyesore and that it looked insightful. It’s truly fascinating how it eventually became the iconic landmark of Paris, and even France.

I viewed the Eiffel Tower from the Palais de Chaillot, and it was simply wondrous and beautiful. No words would be able to explain the beauty. Also, because I vowed to take a picture of the Eiffel Tower which would come at as beautiful as possible, I remember having to spend a long time taking the pictures until it came out pretty. Oh yes! You can’t forget the Notre Dame de Paris! Be it the interior of the cathedral or the exterior walls, the artfully crafted and designed details were simply jaw opening.

Ah, the Parisian sun only sets after 10! I think it’s a country with quite a long day~. However, it’s because of the long days that I could go to all these places and experience them. And so, this happy day which I spent experiencing the culture of Paris drew to a close…

The publishing of Girls’ Generation’s youngest member, Seohyun’s Paris Diary on Issue Daily has started a great sensation. Every day, the number of visitors on Issue Daily surpasses 400 000, and fans have praised Seohyun’s writing skills as well as congratulated her on her new relationship with Issue Daily. Seohyun’s Paris Diary is written by Seohyun herself, and her writings are an account of what happened throughout her stay in Paris, and the performances during SMTOWN LIVE in PARIS. Not only did Seohyun produce the fantastic piece of writing, she also took many pictures and made sure to add them into the publication. All Issue Daily did, was to edit her grammar and spelling mistakes.

This column confirms Seohyun’s wide knowledge and extraordinary writing skills as the best out of all the idols and Girls’ Generation; the 9 warriors who are imprinting the Korean culture worldwide. Through this “Paris Travels”, Seohyun expressed her thoughts and feelings she had while being in her early 20s. In her writings, she shared her touring of Paris on the first day, the effect of the Hallyu Wave on the second day, and the ecstatic SMTOWN LIVE in PARIS on the third day.

After having published two columns, Seohyun has revealed during the third publishing which was released on the 15th that she is planning to release 2 or 3 more columns by the beginning of next week. It is finally the day of the concert! No, it’s not Girls’ Generation’s concert, but SMTOWN LIVE in PARIS! That explains why I saw so many familiar faces. The feeling of meeting all my seniors and juniors who have been busy with their own schedules is really good!

During the SMTOWN LIVE in PARIS rehearsal, everyone greeted each other and asked each other how they were doing. It was so enjoyable and very pleasant for all of us to perform together overseas! Especially since all the seniors and juniors performed on stage with their individual uniqueness and colour. Through this way, we helped to compliment the pros and point out the cons, and it led to the concert becoming so much more meaningful.

Out of all the different special stages, I had the chance to have a duet stage with Super Junior’s Kyuhyun senior. It was so nerve-wracking, but enjoyable too at the same time. I created a meaningful stage in Paris with Kyuhyun senior by singing “Way Back Into Love”. As it was my first performance in Paris, I wanted to make sure that it would be a performance I would never forget.

Kyuhyun senior’s soft and soothing voice is really excellent! Of course he sings well! There was some pressure in having a duet performance with such a senior, but on the real stage, I was very relaxed and happy. Kyuhyun senior tried his hardest to make it easier for me, and as I think back now, I am extremely thankful and grateful towards him. Without Kyuhyun senior’s thoughtfulness, it would have been very difficult. I am so thankful.

It is finally Girls’ Generation’s stage!

When I had been doing the duet performance with Kyuhyun senior, I couldn’t really see the audience very well because I was too focused on the song. However, when I was on stage together with my members, all the people in the audience came into my view one by one. At the moment, it was impossible not to be surprised. Everyone was European and they dressed in really great outfits. Even with just a glance, it seemed like the place was filled with French fans and fans from all over Europe.

Although it was not perfect, the fans were singing our songs in Korean and they cheered for us. I started tearing when I heard them because I was so thankful and grateful towards them. It was a different feeling compared to performing in Asia, and the new feeling struck my heart.

Still, an unfamiliar scene was right in front of my eyes, and until now, I can still remember their various expressions. They tilted their heads, smiled, cheered excitedly, applauded, and then listened to our songs with bright smiles. After each performance, they would rise up from their seats and give us a thunderous applause. It was such an amazing and emotional moment, and I kept repeating in my head, “We are Korea’s Girl’s Generation.”

After the performance of “Run Devil Run”, “Tell Me Your Wish”, “Gee”, “Kissing You”, and etc, I felt like the members and I got a lot closer to the unfamiliar audience by performing passionately. We greeted the audience with our imperfect French, and they in return shouted “Girls’ Generation!” with their imperfect Korean. During this time, I felt like the concert was at its peak.

With music, we became one, and shared a generation heart to heart.
